Hi,

I'm Robin O'Brien and I live in the beautiful cathedral city of Winchester in England. It is my hope that if, like me, you are searching for your real self, you will find this website of help.

Do you look in the mirror and see a complete stranger and wonder "how did I become this person?" Why do some, if not most of us, feel as though we have betrayed ourself in some way? And why do we feel powerless to change even though we yearn to get in touch with our real, inner self?

When we are not aware of who we are we move through life without direction; a random and meaningless series of events. We become accustomed to living our life by bad habits and routines that we have acquired and we allow others to define who we are, the actions we take, and even the way we think!

The realization of this, and the determination to change, is the first and most important step we can take to self improvement.

But what is self improvement exactly? Is it getting a better paid job, having lots of friends or taking better care of our families?

Self improvement is about knowing who we really are. It's a journey of self discovery; leaving our comfort zone and exploring uncharted territory. It has nothing to do with getting a better paid job, having lots of friends or taking better care of our families. It's about honesty, compassion and integrity to one's self.

Because everyone is different there is no one path in the journey toward self improvement. Each person must find their own way and in their own time. There will be set backs and pain along the way and at times, the temptation to surrender and go back to where we started will seem almost irresistible. I know this from personal experience. I have taken many dead-ends, been down winding paths that peter out, climbed up many steep summits only to come crashing down. My journey will never end but I know that every single step taken was worth the effort. There is no going back!

Each morning I am less afraid to look in the mirror.

Like my own journey on self improvement, this website is not a finished work: it is organic and will change and grow over time. It is a companion's guide. The site contains many diverse resources, articles, ebooks and recommended readings. As I scour the internet I will add to these articles, but if you wish to email your own articles please feel free and I will consider publishing them on this site. Share your thoughts with others; there is strength in numbers! Also, feel free to post a comment on any of the articles you find in my Blog. I welcome all feed back.

I sincerely hope that this website will help to set you on that journey and accompany you at least part of the way.
